Monte Baldo Cableway
For a spectacular view over Lake Garda there is nothing to beat a ride on the Malcesine cableway, which rises to 1,600 m in just ten minutes and reaches an altitude of 1,760 m at the top of Monte Baldo.
On a clear day you can see the whole of the lake, from Riva to Peschiera del Garda: a breathtaking panorama. The Malcesine cable car is unique in the world: on the upper section the cabin slowly rotates offering a view of 360° and the sensation of flying.

The cable car Runs from 8:00am to 18.45pm in the summer season.
If you are planning on going on the cableway, try and get there before 10.00 am as the there can be queue's up to 40 mins for tickets and another 40 mins to board the first cable car (coming down involves less queueing).
There are Incredible views from the top. (you can see the top before buying tickets, so avoid days when the top is in the clouds!) Most tourists just do a gentle 1 km level walk to the northern end of the ridge where you can look down over Riva and Torbole, then back to one of the two cafes.
The ambitious can head south up an ascending ridge. For that you need a map (which you can buy in Malcesine) , compas, (clouds can descend suddenly) walking shoes and avoid very summer-like clothing (temperatures at the top of the mountain are about 10 degrees cooler than at lake level).
It's also a great place for paragliding.
You can also take the cable to the top of the mountain and then walk back down to Malcesine, which takes around 3 hours.
For those that dont link heights, you are never very far above the ground when you ascend/descend.
