Travelling to Malcesine

- Verona

Verona airport is approximatly 60km away from Malcesine, (just over an hours drive). It is possible to fly to an alternative airport in Italy and then make your own way to Malcesine, although Vernona is the closest.

Taxi..

A taxi service, direct from Verona, can be arranged and rough prices for this are shown below:

Public transport..

Every 20 minutes there’s a shuttle bus (£5) from the airport to Verona Stazione FS. Once there you can get the bus number 162 to Malcesine (£4 - on the front it will say Riva del Garda as that’s the final stop).

Hire car..

Follow signs for “Lago di Garda” or signs for Lazise, Bardolino, Garda or Malcesine. There is only one road by the lake that goes from the south (Lazise) right up to north of the lake (Riva del Garda) The road is called Gardesana Orientale (SS 249). It goes through every town on the lake.

Follow (green) signs to Autostrada A22, go on the motorway take the exit “Affi, lago di Garda sud”. Follow for Garda and you get onto the Gardesana road (SS 249).

Car driver info..

Satalite Navigation

Do not use a sat nav. All sat nav's send you up a mountain. The roads are very easy to navigate (because there are not many).

Toll charges

All motorways in Italy have tolls. Keep hold of your ticket! if you loose it you may have to pay for the whole length of the motorway.

Signposts

Sign posts have three different colours:

Green signs: Motorways (eg: A4 Milano – Venezia)

Blue signs: Towns (eg: Malcesine)

Brown signs: Points of interest / points of attraction (eg: Lago di Garda)
